I had a discectomy at L5-S1 3 years ago. Almost to the day 3 years later, I had a fusion at the same location after a rupture.
My experience has been....unusual. The pain for the previous surgery recovery was unbearable. I took large amounts of percocet to cope. I had to shuffle walk for weeks post op.
This time, my post op pain is almost non existant, other than spasms and general soreness. I take oxyneo 20mg twice daily, and thats it. My range of motion is better than last time as well. I dont have to shuffle walk everywhere. I still use assistance for specific tasks, but the pain is nowhere close to what it was last time. Did my surgeon use a dull knife last time? This incision is 3 times the size of my last one, but sometimes i forget its even there.
Just wondering if anyone else has had a "way better than last time" experience similar to what im going through, and if theres a reason for it?
