Hi I am new to this forum. I have been having pain in the upper back near my spine between my shoulder blade. I am trying to figure out if I pulled my rhomboid muscle or I have a slipped disc. I don't know the difference in the pain. The pain is not terrible and does not hurt that bad, only sometimes when I move a certain way. The pain also has moved around, but it is mostly on my spine between my shoulder blade. I am able to function most of the time. It hurts mostly at night when I lay down and sleep, or if I have to sit still for a while. Which is confusing if it is a pulled muscle. It starts to get aggravated when I move around my neck but again does not stay long, it feels better to get up and move around. It hurts when I press my shoulder blades back and squish my back together in the center. It's kind of hard to pinpoint the pain actually. I have not had to take pain pills (over the counter) but at night. I started to lift wights the past 3 weeks doing a program called Body Beast. It hurts when I move my neck from side to side and if I twist my body upper part to one side. It's not bad enough pain to warrant a trip to a doctor but I would like it to go away. I have not been able to workout again since Sunday when it started, I am afraid I will make it worse. What do you guy's think it could be? I hope it's not a slipped disc that would not be good. Do you think I should lift weights again or wait?
