I just started going to a pain clinic in June. I have had an ACDF and laminectomy in 2010 and I am now dealing with herniation of l4-l5-s1. I never took strong pain medication for anything with my neck except post surgical. My low back has benefited greatly from oxycodone because your low back takes the brunt of the weight you have. My second appointment I went through my medications too fast and she threatened to discontine and not prescri e anymore. I am out again 11 days early of 5mg oxycodone up to 4 times a day. The pharmacy only had supply for 10mg twice a day. I am in pain, got an injection, went to emergency room today for pain and probably withdrawl.
I scheduled an appointment Thursday. Do I ask for more or Am I just asking to be kicked out. I have so much anxiety about being " yelled" at again. Last ti.e I cried and I am not sure I want to endure that again.
I am an unhappy camper!
I understand that you are in pain but you can not run short on your pain medications. Today, no pain management doctor is going to accept that. Many will just dismiss you as a patient. 11 days is a real shortage! If you were in that amount of pain, you should have contacted your doctor to discuss this. Many times, the doctor will give you the ok to take more or perhaps prescribe a different medication. But without getting the approval of your doctor, this could spell trouble for you. - Ron DiLauro, Spine-Health System Moderator
