drug test false negative

I have recently had a drug screen using saliva. My ortho doctors PA called and told me that the oxycodone did not show up in my system and that I would be released from their office. I know for a fact that oxycodone was in my system because I take it everyday. Im sure the test had to be a false negative. I was wondering what steps I should take from here on out?

  • depending on whether it was tested using immunoassay or gas chromotography/mass spec should have picked up the oxycodone if you are taking it on a regular basis. How often are you taking oxycodone and what strength?
Dismissal is hard to fight, unless you can prove that there is an error in the testing. The only recourse would be a blood test, done simultaneously as the saliva test.
Being that there seems to be a time lapse between the saliva test and them contacting you, there really isn't anything that can be done to prove the results are falsely negative.

  • I take 7.5/325 Percocet 4 times a day for break thru pain and I also take methadone 10mg 3 daily. I had the saliva test done at the doctors office and everything must have been fine then because they continued to give me my meds. I actually contacted them to schedule an appointment. When I called the put me through to the PA and he said that it didnt show up and that I would be released.
  • until the results come back. So if you go in for an appointment, are given a test, it is normally mailed out for the actual testing. It takes about a week for the results to come back.
Unfortunately , you can request a copy of the results but it seems you are going to need to find a new doctor to manage your neds, which may be difficult with a negative test result.
