So I had multilevel decompression discectomy and bilateral foraminotomies L1-5 a month ago. At first, the left side showed slight relief and the right side has continued to get worse. Worse with even greater hip pain and tenderness in my cheek and along my sciatic nerve. After a dose pack of steroids and continuing decay with intense shooting pains, the rash started.....right side just above my hip :(
Dr immediately stuck me on Acyclovirtwo days ago.
Now I have hope that the surgery was successful and maybe all the pain is the shingles now! The pain is intense and wicked at times. He also moved my Gralise up to 2400mg.

Anybody else had this happen right after a back surgery?

I do not share your experience, but I did want to say how sorry I am for the pain you are going through.
I can't even imagine the difficulty you are having with post op pain compounded by the shingles pain!

I wish you the very best in your recovery from both!
And I will look forward to the responses you receive to your question.
