I'm five-weeks two-tier ACDF C4/C5 C5/C6 and a discectomy. I wont lie, this recovery has been a painful nightmare. First my shoulders hurt so bad I was only getting 2 hours sleep a night. That has finally calmed down some, but, my cervical spine is just killing me. I cannot lay down. It's just horrific. It hurts in the spine itself as well as completely across both sides to my shoulders. I've read the shoulder pain is pretty typical for most. But, is the spinal pain typical? I literally have to hold onto the back of my neck in order to get up from laying position. This was not the case until week 4. I also cannot turn my neck from left to right when laying down without excruciating pain. I'm not sure what is normal and what isn't. I haven't called my surgeon yet, but I"m considering it. Any put in would be so much appreciated.
