Physical Therapy After ACDF

Hello All,
I am currently recovering from 3 level ACDF surgery on levels c3-7. I am doing well, and healing. However, today I feel as if I have sprained something in my shoulder. I know that it is caused from wearing the neck collar for so long as my neck, shoulder, arms, wrists are so tight! Does Physical Therapy help this? I can't start PT until at least September 9th. What are your experiences so far. I have been walking every day since surgery, and it does help the tightness a little.

My surgeon let me start PT, at my request, for massage and modalities only for pain control. No range of motion or exercises. I'm 3 months post op and zero percent fused. I am going to start my dry needling sessions tomorrow. Not sure if your state allows this, but it's amazing for tight muscles and trigger points. I do PT myself (my career) so I'm using all of my resources/connections during my recovery. Hope this helps!
•ACDF C6-7 (5/12/15) resulted in a non-union of the 2 vertebrae. I am using a BSG & Forteo injections every night, PT for e-stim, US, MFR, dry needling, acupuncture & another private MT for MFR. My tone is improving, however the bone pain continues.
