What should I expect

2nd Nighy post-op, the ACDF was a long time coming, is it common for most of the stenosis/spondylosis symptoms to be gone so soon? However, my neck and that are in elevated pain... my Orthopeadic Surgeon has been great, and his recovery time line is shorter than I've read about, but the total fusion time is longer.. which should I prep for? Thanks in advance.
Background, 33 yr old male, C5/C6 fusion, cage/allograft, bilateral stenosis, soft collar...
Also, awaiting lumbra diagnosis too.

  • I had single level ACDF was told fusion could take 6-9 months and total recovery a year.
I am 4 months post op and I feel like I'm about 50-60% recovered. My stamina is still low. I still have pain and require meds, my activities as still limited due to weakness and pain. I can see total recovery taking a full year. I have spoken to several people who had the same surgery. One was feeling completely better at 6 months, but he fused quickly. Another started feeling pretty good at 8 months and feeling totally recovered at a year. So error on the conservative side and give yourself a year benchmark.
