Pain during dental treatment.. No way to stop pain.

I have several chronic pain and neuropathic pain, coupled with fibro. I joined this forum almost 7 years ago and plan to come back again for some much needed support.

However, I have a few specific questions. I am trying to get a tooth extracted, and despite lots of anesthesics, it is excruciating. Anyone else had this happen? Getting a filing is fine.

Do I bear it or get knocked out?

  • Hi, in my family the condition Elhers danlos syndrome is prevelant. One of the features of this illness is the failure of anesthetics to work properly or to last as long as in normal people. There are plenty of articles on the web relating to this and my own daughter has a blog the myasthenia kid where she talks about this syndrome. My youngest daughter who has EDS had a c section last week where a spinal block was used. The consultant was racing against the effects wearing off. During the last stages my daughter managed on gas and air to complete the procedure. I hope this will give you a few ideas as to what may be happening.
