Chronic neck pain - Hello

Hello everybody
9 weeks ago I had what I can only describe as a funny turn in my head. I had a vertigo attack but as the ambulance took one hour to come I ended up in a position of my head laying on the back of my couch which was a wooden board. I was in a very uncomfortable position but couldn't move owing to my head spinning. I also had light sensitivity in my eyes.
I was admitted to hospital but as I lay in bed, if I turned over, the pain was so bad in the back of my neck, I felt as if I was going to pass out. I totally lost my balance and walking was a nightmare. They treated me for vertigo.
2 days later my left eye became blurry and then they told me that the thought I'd had a stoke. They then gave me gabapentin for the pain in the back of my neck. I also had 3 scans that were all clear so then treated for meningitis.
I spent two weeks in hospital and was told they really didn't know what was wrong with me but I had to rest for me to recover and it would take a long time. So I spent another week in bed at home trying to get better.
9 weeks have gone by an I am still in excruciating pain in my neck and down my shoulders. I walk with the aid of a stick and unable to go back to work.
Yesterday I went to see a physiotherapist who gave me a leaflet on neck pain and it so describes what is going on with me. I have to wait 2/3weeks for an hour's appointment. In the meantime I am going to ask my doctor if I can have xrays to see if they show anything to help me. I also will do the exercises if I can and using hot water bottle.
Taking more gabapentin spaces me out and I also tried amitriptyline but that was the same. Being epileptic as well does not help.
My life has been on hold, I have literally lost the summer. I need my life back and most of all to go back to work.
I am hoping that physio is the last leg of my horrific journey I have endured.
Any other tips or advice on this pain would be welcome.
