Welcome to Spine-Health

It would be very helpful if you could provide us with more details. So many times we read about members who have different tests and they all come back negative. The more clues and information you provide, the better chances in finding out what is wrong,

Here are some questions that you should answer:

  • - When did this first start?
    - Was it the result of an accident or trauma?
    - What doctors have you seen? (Orthopedic, Neurosurgeon, Spine Specialist, etc)
    - What Conservative treatments have you had? Which ones?
    - What diagnostic tests have you had? And their results (MRI, CTScan, XRay, EMG, etc)
    - What medications are you currently using? (details, dosage, frequency, etc)
    - Has surgery been discussed as an option? (If so, what kind)
    - Is there any nerve pain/damage associated?
    - What is your doctor’s action plan for treating you?

Providing answers to questions like this will give the member community here a better understanding
of your situation and make it easier to respond.

Please take a look at our forum rules: Forum Rules

Please remember that no one at Spine-Health is a formally trained medical professional.
Everything that is posted here is based on personal experiences and perhaps additional research.
As such, no member is permitted to provide

  • - Analysis or interpretation of any diagnostic test (ie MRI, CTscan, Xray, etc)
    - Medical advice of any kind
    - Recommendations in terms of Medications, Treatments, Exercises, etc

What could be good for someone could spell disaster for another.
You should also consult your doctor to better understand your condition and the do’s and don’t’s.

It is very important that new members (or even seasoned members) provide others with details about their condition(s). It is virtually impossible to help another member when all the details we have are
I’ve had this for years, it hurts, I cant move my shoulder – what could this be, what treatment should I get?

Diagnosing spinal problems can be very difficult. In many ways its like a game of clue. Especially, when the diagnostic tests come back negative – no trouble found! Then its up to the patient and the doctor to start digging deeper. The doctor is like a detective. They need clues to help them move along. So, you as the patient need to provide the doctor with all sorts of clues. That is like it is here. Without having information about a condition, its impossible for anyone here to try to help.

  • Hi Monikoki. I'm sad to hear you're having such bad problems throughout your body. Have you seen a neurologist? My own game plan is to see a neurologist to rule out potential health issues that can cause nerve pain. I've been left with a lot of questions, and I'm hoping a neurologist will help me understand my symptoms and root cause better. It was my neurosurgeon (who did not want to operate) who recommended a neurologist visit.

I've been suffering from lower back pains for almost 16 years.Once or twice a year I would suffer from session of accute psin, that would go away with antiinflamatory medication.Since august last year, the pain spread to my left leg.I've been prescribed various medications by my GP(Cocodamol500,Naproxen500,Neurontin and Tramadol),but nothing work anymore, just the pain is more bareable.I've been sent to a phisiotherapist four times, and I had two accupuncture sesssions. After I receved my Mri results,I've been taught a few bach exercises, and I was then rebooked for four weeks later.Accupuncture helped me s lot, because I use to urinate every 1-2 hours, but now is back to normal.I went back to my Gp to talk about my Mri results, and she said the problem is worse on the right side. When I asked her why I feel alot more pain in the left side, she said she didn't know, and reffered me to an orthopedist(because I insisted on it).Report MRI spine lumbar and sacral:There is minor retrolisthesis of L5 on S5.tThere are type I Modic endplate changes adjacent L5/S1disc.No evidence of infection or malignancy//At L3/4 there is a small generalised disc bulge. This combined with facet joint hypertrophy causes minor laterall recess and foraminal narrowing, but not definite impingement of descending or existing nerve rootles.//At L4/5 there is s moderate generalused disc bulge...but not definite impingement of nerve roots.//At L5/S1 there is moderate generalised disc bulge. This combined with facet joint hypertrophy causes moderate narrowing of the lateral recesses, but no definite impingement oj descending nerve rootles. There is moderate to severe bilateral foraminal narrowing, appearing slightly worse on the right, with possible impingement of the existing nerve roots bilateraly.Opinion:Disc and facet joint disease at L5/S1 with latersl recess and foraminal narrowing billaterally.//The last time I saw my GP was allmost 3weeks ago,and I still whait for that latter. Now the pain is worse than ever, and started going ip in to the spine jn to thorax and cervical area.Sometime I feel diźzi,have blurred vision, and have problem with balance(moments).I feel the muscles in the neck, shoulders and hand in a constant muscular pain, and sometimes I feel the left side of my face numb.My low back pain id worse and my left foot is verry bad and insecure..Thank you in advance for any help
