I am three weeks post op. I am not sure why my hips are killing me and the middle of my back is so tight. I can only sleep for 45 mins at a time and when I wake up I am in so much pain. I got my staples out on 9-8-15 which was two weeks post op. They still have me on BTL no bending, twisting, or lifting anything over 5 lbs. I try my best not to do these things, but I have a three year old. I watch her while my wife goes to work. Just wondering if any of you had any issues like this. Thank you in advance.

  • I'm 4 weeks post surgery today. I had a really good week last week little to no nerve pain but over the last 2 days the nerve pain has been more noticeable. I'm in the same position waiting to see my surgeon 6 weeks post op, no lifting over 5lbs, bending or twisting. I have reduced my pain meds by half. Just wondering if anyone else has had a return of nerve pain. I have everything crossed that maybe because I felt much better I have just slightly over done it. Xx

  • Hi Jleong829! Lots of weakness in my hips and muscle soreness. I am 3 weeks post-op from an L4/L5 Microdiscectomy. I didn't have staples, they used dissolvable stitches on the inside of my incision so I am not sure what that type of pain is but I can tell you that I am way more sore at night and especially during bed (throughout the night). This is the only time (prior to sleep) that I still take 2 Percocet tabs in order to get me through. It might just be a case of doing too much. I know I finally started to feel like I was more mobile this third week which lead me to 2 days of overexerting myself but still trying to follow Neurosurgeon instructions to avoid BTL and reaching for 6 weeks. I too have a small child (5) and most times unless we are cuddling and watching a movie, I try not to be by myself with her for more than a couple hours. Anymore than that and guaranteed she has hurt herself, is hungry or needs help in the bathroom.

I got so annoyed at everyone telling me to "rest and take your time" but it's the truth! We have similar surgery dates and type of decompression...feel free to check out my whole story on the thread "L4/L5 Microdiscectomy - 3 weeks Post Op.

  • Hello everyone I am waiting to have a 3 level fusion on (L3-4 L4-5 & L5-S1). I have lots of questions as what should I expect in the hospital & at home recovering. I will also be recovering from having all my top teeth pulled & a temporary denture placed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
