Had emergency ACDF on June 28 on C3-C7. The whole experience was very unexpected, humbling & traumatic but glad the docs figured out what was happening to me. I had severe spinal stenosis & myelopathy, causing me extreme fatigue, numbness in arms, spasticity in legs, incontinence and a lot of confusion. I was in hospital & rehab facility for 3 weeks, and then had at-home physical therapy for another month. Still on Norco & muscle relaxers.
Progress was really steady, and started feeling I was slowly progressing to normalcy...almost ready to drive again. Started doing some chores, walking a little by myself--but then yesterday after scrubbing the carpet, heavy brushing of long hair, showering & a load of light laundry, I was suddenly struck down by severe illness. The weather here was 100 and we have no a/c so wondering if it was dehydration? All my muscles burned and spasmed, I felt like I had the flu or a fever and the pain was so intense thought I might have to check back into hospital to get heavier pain meds on IV because almost couldn't endure it. But I made it through the night & am doing better today so hopefully the worst is over.
But that was darn frightening. The thought of having to go back to hospital scared me to death!
