I have chickened out of having surgery twice! My doctor is so patient with me. He says he doesn't want me having this L4-5 spinal fusion, with laminectomy without having my head in the right place. My surgery is October 6th, and I am scared. I'm scared because I have those good days that tell me maybe I don't need the surgery, I can walk. I am in pain every day, but not severe pain. I have sciatica, but not severe. Imaging study shows synovial cyst superimposed on L4-5 severe facet arthropathy. I am going to listen to every bit of advice given. It is appreciated so much.

  • Did the surgeon tell u that the cyst may get larger and cause more problems. What exactly is the major effect on your quality of life and why does surgeon think you have to do this? Yes, surgery is a huge decision, especially spinal.
