I've had back pain for nearly a year now and it's beyond annoying now. The back pain initially started through a weightlifting injury but I'll put a little time line below to show where I've gotten so far. I don't have the timings of this but it's a pretty random series of events anyway so I don't think it matters too much.
-Nearly a year ago I hurt my back squatting. It didn't happen suddenly but it was fine during one set and then the next time I picked it up the pain was intense. I stopped and went home.
-Doctor visit one told me to rest and take ibuprofen
-Pain subsided and developed into sciatica in the right leg which was quite severe. I couldn't sit up.
-Doctor visit two and I was prescribed amitryptiline and a physio refer all.
-The pills helped, the physio didn't. During this time I worked on my flexibility as I believed that's what caused my injury. Foam rolling, yoga etc plus the physio. It didn't help.
-Went privately to a chiropractor as the doctors were dismissive and I didn't want to visit them. Back pain had subsided but sciatica was horrible. Adjustments helped immensely with this. I did a 6 week course of adjustments and I had no sciatica apart from mild twinge once or twice. I've had none since.
-Back pain returns out of nowhere. Very painful and week. Felt like I was balancing my torso on my legs all the time.
-Doctor visit number 3. Ibuprofen again and rest/light exercise. I also changed my mattress from memory foam to a firm one.
-Pain was come and go from here on out. It was always there but varied in intensity from ache to 'I can't move'. I tried to fix some anterior pelvic tilt I had but I didn't help.
-Doctor visit number 4. Requested an MRI and was told no because I just have a herniated disc. That's probably true but I want to know. Tried massage to see if tight muscles in legs were pulling, again it didn't help.
Now I'm at the present day and my back is in agony. It's not a muscle ache sore, it never has been. It's usually manageable as long as I lie down. If I sit it slowly goes from pay to intense pain and normally takes me about 5 minutes to go from sitting to gully standing. It also hurts after a short time standing or walking. Well now I've noticed its rising up my spine and the pain reaches into my middle back as well as my lower back.
Anyone any ideas how I can fix this or some good arguments to take o the doctor???
