Hello.. I have 3 bulging disc L3-6 and my right si joint is seriously messed up. Ive been told by two different drs there Is nothing that can be done but med management because of the way they are bulging to the inside. Ive been on a plethora of medications and various different procedures. Such as steroids and spinal shots.. Even the radio wave one. (Twice once on each side. Excruciatingly painful).. Now currently this is my situation. I'm on norco 5 325 & robaxin 750. I take 2 of each every 4-5hrs. (For some reason 2 5's are more effective than one 10.. Doesn't make sense but there you go) this is after my latest set of trigger points that substantially increased my pain. (I did opt out of the 3 set of shots since the 2nd made it almost unbearable). Im only allowed to have 4 robaxin a day. The Norco only up to 5max.. This JUST barely covers the pain. And some days I'm in so much pain it takes my breath away. I almost scream when I have to move. Then other days are better. I did do the genetic testing to see what meds wouldn't work on me. ( I knew morphine didn't work..Lol) my question is has anyone else experienced this same response and what medications maybe worked for them?

I have never been a candidate for spinal surgery either.
Have you told your pain management doctor about your response to current med treatment?

It can often times be try and try again.

When I first started pain management, he told me I will be treated as if I had cancer.
He started me on fentenyl patch with breakthrough med.

He has me on patch for a year or so, then switch to OxyContin twice a day, for a year or so, back to patch, and so on.
Hoping that I do not become resistant to either med, as I may have years ahead to need to manage this pain.

No matter what the pain med, it only takes edge off. I'm never without pain, but I'm so good with that as it keeps me out of the ER.

I'm not familiar with genetic testing re medication effect on individual.

Ty.. Ive been switched a few times to other meds. I just feel like the norcos aren't cutting it. Back years ago I took vikoden and soma.. Those worked great. But No-one wants to prescribe them anymore. Something to do with state restrictions. A couple drs I've had say norco is the same as vikoden but it just isn't. Idk if it is because the situation has just advanced or it is really a different formulary. I do go to the drs today. Im desperately hoping for something that will give me some quality of life.. Has anyone else had trigger point injections that went wrong??
