Hello , just wondered if anyone can help me , for a year now I have been experiencing pins and needles or tingling just by my right shoulder blade when I am doing things like washing up , reaching up to cupboards , looking down at my phone . Could this be a tapped nerve in the neck ? There is no pain but I'm v v worried about it , seen chiro and he has said I have some scar tissue in that area and so has been working on that , had a X-ray also which Dr just said shows neck spasm ? Chiro isn't helping and I don't know what to do , is this serious ? :-( thank you

My primary care doctor tried working with my pain couple of years before referring me to pain management.
Seeing specialist was best thing for me!

He did different kinds of testing. For me, EMG was most revealing of spinal issues not previously noted.

Ive Seen several posts about pain management doing EMG's is that SOP? I'm just curious because I've never heard of it. What does it do?

EMG is a nerve conduction test. It was up there within the top five of my testing done by my PM doctor.
My pain would, still does travel, although there are areas I can depend on to give me pain daily.

He measured how the nerves are working and I'm not sure, but I think in working it backwards could be led to area of my spine responsible for whatever may be out of the norm.
Then could gear his treatments and or meds for my care.
For ex: he knew where pain source probably was for the treatment of epidural injections, with the fluoroscope.

Doctor also told me that my right side is nothing like my left side re nerve signals and other.
Then during exam he would pick an arm or leg and drop it again looking amazed at, and saying...nothing alike at all.
Feeling or not feeling pin pricks, leg and arms strengths compared, and such.

I really can't explain what he was seeing, but it helps him to help me!

That was prior to any of my known strokes....but he was suspicious of stroke activity also.
Also, when finding these effected areas of my spine and nerve involvement, and effect on extremeties, it was validating for me. As I wanted to scream, I told you it hurt!
That's my extremely limited understanding ......and of how it effected me.

****Please!....use the search, upper right on this page for a proper understanding of it!...... :)

Some people do not get as revealing of results as I have. It's like everything else. We are so individual in our pain and other symptoms, the way we respond to treatments and meds.
And to testing, some have MRIs reveal more than on others....and so on.

The point, I think, is that it is another test out there to help find the source and ease the pain.
If some tests don't reveal anything, or not much....to keep pressing on for best answers.

I'm not sure that it is standard operating procedure in all PM offices, but glad it was for mine.
