Thoracic Spasm Pain

I am a 53 year old female and have suffered with back and neck related problems for approximately 25 years; degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, fibromyalgia to name a few. I have had 2 back surgeries, several minor procedures and have been in pain management for about 15 years. The last 5 months I have been experiencing severe jolting spasms and pain directly under my right breast which also radiates through to my upper right thoracic area. accompanied with constipation, nausea and loss of appetite. After a recent thoracic MRI my pm dr sent me to a gastro dr because the test showed my bile duct was severely dilated. I had an ercp in which a temporary stent was inserted into the duct. Within 2 days of this procedure my pain went off the charts and ended up in the er. After an ultra sound and blood work showed no other gastro problems my drs are stumped as to what is causing this debilitating pain and accompanying symptoms. This pain comes out of nowhere and is not dependent on what I am doing at the time; sitting, standing, lying, sleeping. I am desperately searching for answers as this has completely taken over my life.

Curious about the constipation that accompanies your jolting spasms.
Have you been constipated a certain number of days before the spasms occur?

Or are you saying that after the spasms, you experience constipation?
Curious for how long before you're able to relieve yourself?

You say you've been with pain management, ....so not sure if or for how long you may have been on any pain meds that are known to slow the GI tract, in some people...?

I had ischemia, to my large intestine prior to my starting pain medications with pain management, and now with my medications .....well, it certainly doesnt help my GI issues.

When my issues first began, there were not the treatments available as there are today.
Within past several months, I went back and started to see a new GI specialist.
She started me on new med, and has plans B, C and etc...for when and if we need to try something new.

Have you had any kind of cardiac or vascular work up?
When I was in my later forties, I had my first heart attack. I learned that often times with women, the symptoms can often manifest differently than the signs normally given to watch for.

For example, my main pain was like a large fist of pain from my sternum going clear through to my mid upper back. I did not have the left sided weakness or numb jaw or such.

I later discovered I have a few vascular issues going on inside my body, also....prior to attack and remain after.

I find it difficult at times to discern what's going on with my symptoms as I know not all may not be spine related.
I keep all my doctors in the loop with my symptoms and meds.
Over the years I've chosen few specialists ...like my team. :)....to help me out with new issues, after they ruled out other issues.

Please keep us posted on how you're doing!
