1 week post-op feeling a familiar pain

I felt immediate pain relief when I woke up from my L5/S1 microdiscectomy. Today I started to notice an all too familiar sciatic pain in my hip and knee. Did I blow this recovery? Am I doomed to a fusion surgery? Or is it swelling and maybe I'll be ok? My herniated disc was so bad that my surgeon said it may not heal and that I had I higher chance of re-injury. He said just the slightest wrong movement could do it. I've been taking it easy, but I'll admit, I could have been taking it a little easier.

  • One week post op isn't very long. It could be swelling or it could be a re-herniation. I'd contact my dr if I was really worried and TAKE IT EASY.
