A year ago I had an MRI showing bulging disc in L4/L5. I did first injection which didn't work but tried again and found decent relief. In spring symptoms came back and tried another injection. Didn't help much and they said they wouldn't do more. By this time I was having bad pain when I laid down at night and into the morning. Once I would get going the pain would be better for the day. Repeat cylce every day. Tried accupuncture also. After months of this I decided to go back to doctor. He recommended surgery and another MRI. Did a round of oral steroids, didn't help. The last 2 weeks pain and gotten so bad quickly and is running down my legs and is all day/night. MRI surprisingly showed that the herniation was better but my whole L4/L5 region was inflamed. They were worried about vertebrea osteomyelitis so had blood work done to confirm. Blood work is normal so now I wait until Monday for my doctor to figure out next step. There are some other small issues showing in the other L1-L4 areas but didn't think was causing this pain. What else would this inflammation be? The symptoms are exactly like herniated disc and the osteomylitis (except fever). I've googled other things but symptoms don't seem to match.
