I've not been Dx'g with any type of arthritis at this point but am very interested in anyone's thoughts regarding my symptoms. I'm a 49 year old male in good health.
In April I was diagnosed with Dupuytrens in my left little pinky and have since had a procedure to reduce the contracted finger. I have what appears to be Herberden nodes on both DIP joints (next to fingernail) on both little fingers which I understand is typically indicative of osteoarthritis.
I have also noticed some stiffness and swelling in the middle (PIP joints) of my index and middle fingers of my right hand. Recently (and this is most concerning to me) is I have frequent burning sensation in both of my palms. The sensation is in the fleshy area of the palms below the thumbs in the thenar emenince area.
I have some blood work performed thinking this might be RA......RF Factor was negative, ESR and Sed rate both very low and negative for ANA. I feel good (no fatigue), no aching anywhere else in my body, etc.
Couple questions for those of you with experience in this area....
1) Based on what I've read the Herberden nodes are indicative of osteoarthritis ---- if that's the case would it be unusual to also have rheumatoid arthritis in my hands as well?
2) Any thoughts on the burning sensation in the palms? I have no wrist pain so I don't think it's carpal tunnel syndrome??
3) Do my overall symptoms sound like RA or Osteo or something else?????
