I'm new to the forum. I'm a 48 y/o physically active female who underwent a total disc replacement at C3C4 and C5C6 with the Mobi-c device in September of 2014. The operation was uneventful with the exception that the surgeon shared with me afterwards that I really needed a 3.5 size disc but the smallest Mobi-c device is a 5. He further shared that over time; it would settle. Initially; things did settle with daily Celebrex and occasional Flexeril usage.
Approximately four months poster-operatively; my husband told me that I was having sleep apnea episodes. This was strange as I was not over-weight and most importantly had never had this issue. Spoke with my surgeons office who said go see internist; which I did. Long story short; had a sleep study and have documented sleep apnea. Now I have spoke with numerous physicians who have never heard of this and there is no adverse events listed in the FDA Maude database.
Fast forward a couple of month; husband does not notice sleep apnea, but now I have episodes of serious sore throat, and all of the pre-operative symptoms with a few extras (positional left arm numbness, pain in arms, clavicle area , jaw) have now returned. The surgeon has since moved out of state and obtaining a second opinion has been extremely challenging.
I have scheduled a couple appointments one with a orthopedic surgeon in Jan
and one with a neurosurgeon that my sister works with who has a good reputation.
Anyone have to go back for a revision following a Mobi-C out there? Stories to share? Go-to surgeons for revisions? I would be most interested.
