NEW here- post laminectomy

Hi, I'm new to the forum. I had laminectomy done on L3-L5 about one year ago, because of persistent numbness in my lower left leg and foot following golf injury in Jul 2013. In hindsight, that was a mistake. Now I have new constant back pain in area of surgery and increased left leg pain. I still have full range of motion, and have been managing to continue working as a pharmacist. Now I went to seek a couple other opinions and they are telling me I need a fusion on 3 levels.

Did you have repeat testing to document what is going on?
    I had anL3-4 microdiscetomy in May 2013
And experienced low back pain that was new following my surgery. My leg pain resolved.
Now I have a new herniation at the same level with horrible leg pain but I still have functional muscle strength. The recommendations for me from both a neurosurgeon and orthopedic surgeon are to try epidurals first if they don't work then I need a second microdiscetomy!
    No relief from epidurals
Best to get opinions on what is actually the problem.
  • I had L3-5 and S1-2 worked on, back in June. It helped 70% for several months, but has eventually been coming back. I had the surgery in hopes of it helping my chronic lower back pain, not related to the stenosis. I'm in more pain now.

I've decided to go for an SCS. Getting the Trial Spinal Cord Stimulator installed this Friday. I currently survive on my TENS (and heat).

Best of luck with your follow up.
