Hello everyone. I'm Sheri and I just had a C6-7 acvf 12/28. I wish I had a "cool" story but mine is rather short and simple (kinda like me). I woke up with sever neck pain early in the month of December. Turns out I somehow ruptured a disc between C6-7. Quickly developed nerve damage in my left tricep and have numbness/tingling in my left thumb and forefinger. I came home today (12/29) with a moderately sore throat, continued numbness/tingling in the same fingers and still no strength in my tricep (all of which I was expecting to stick around for a while). I do, however, no longer have pain in my shoulder or elbow. I still have some pain in the back of my neck...but I guess that could also be from the surgery too. I was sent home in a soft collar and with fantastic narcotics.
Biggest question I guess is for those with my "same surgery " ( I fully realize they are ALL different...but you know what I mean) IS how many of you are in collars and how long do they expect you to be in it. I already HATE IT (I really don't like things close to my neck) and want it off...but so far (again day 2 here) they have said 4-6 weeks in it.
AND any tips from you "pro's" out there?
