Numbness and burning increasing when standing or walking. Why??

If i have some nerve damage on my foot, should it be consistent? Why during any activity it seems to get worse? Then lay down and go back to the original numbness.. Anybody with an idea???

in my case it is very positional. I think my herniated disc compresses the nerve root with sitting and standing. My pain is almost nonexistent with flat positions. I had surgery 2 1/2 years ago for an extruded fragment and experienced slightly different pain in different places then. I now have a new herniation and my pain is similar but in slightly different places.
I remember after my MD I had some nerve irritation in my leg that felt different with walking.
Did you just have surgery for this?
