I had a car accident more than a year ago and fractured l1-l5 bilateral transverse processors and s1 facet. I was in a significant pain for the entire year. I had prp injections on all levels in october 2015 and within 5 weeks had 70% improvement. Today I had my second set and hope to not have pain at all. I can't recommend this treatment enough it saved my life. Let me know if you have any questions

I'm curious to know how long it took you to get to that 70% from last October. I just had my first PRP injections in my L5-S1 about a week ago and I've probably only seen about 20% relief. I certainly appreciate feeling a little better and I'm glad I haven't gone for the steroid injections or surgery despite all of the advice I've gotten from friends and colleagues but I'd like to hear about others experiences.

I'm already scheduled for a second set of injections in another 10 days so I'm hoping to see a big jump in relief as well.

Good of luck with your procedure! Please keep us updated on your progress.

  • Hello, It took 4 weeks for my first set of PRP to start working. It continued to improve for an additional 8 weeks. I had my first set in October the second set in January. the second set wasn't as effective as i was hoping for.  it still worked but i would say i had 70% improvement from the first one, and out of the 30% that i still had to go it improved additional 15%, so i am still in a littlebit of pain, but do not require medications. Keep hope it gets better, now i am doing red core physical therapy that helps stabilize my S1 joint and muscles around there and that has been working great for me.

Thanks for writing back! I'm glad to hear that you are doing better. I just had my second injection a couple of weeks ago and my experience has been a lot like yours. I probably got 50% better after my first injection but probably only 10% more since the second injection. I am off the meds as well so for that I am very grateful. My sciatica pain is mostly down in my feet and calf muscles now and I am standing up much straighter than before.

Is red core a type of physical therapy or is it that the place that you go? I will definitely do a little research on that because I finally feel like I have enough mobility to start doing some physical therapy that will make a difference.
  • Just wanted to check In how are you now?
