Physiotherapy good or bad?

Having suffered from sciatica for around 18 months, my symptoms worsened and I had small bouts of sciatica in both legs, scrotal pain and an urgency to go to the toilet. I visited my GP and was sent for an MRI Scan. The MRI returned S5 L5 Herniation and a broad based herniation above. I was sent to physio and told to do the press up exercise....the one where you keep your hips on the floor, relax and push up with your arms. I did this exercise and began swimming (something else recommended) and my deterioration became rapid. It is now January and I am a factor of 10 times worse. The pain is acute and I am struggling to function.

My question is this: The disc bulge at s5 is impinging on the nerve root. Intuitively it would seem that in carrying out this press up exercise, a person would put incredible stress on the disc bulge and make it worse?

    You may want to consider seeing a specialist.

    My primary tried working with me about two years then referred me to pain management doctor.
    Best thing for me!

    He did variety of testing and came up with plans for treatments as my spinal issues were discovered.
