Hello, I am a new member

Hi everyone, I am a new member of this group. I am so glad to be part of the group and hope to gain a lot of insight from people who are dealing with the same issues as I am.

I had a microdiscectomy on my herniated L4/L5 disc 4.5 years ago and have been doing PT exercises everyday, swimming every other day, and taking NSAIDS to manage the chronic pain. There isn't a day where I don't feel pain and there are many micro-spasms that occurs in my low back with pain sometimes coming down my buttocks and leg. A recent MRI showed that I have a moderate disc bulge in the same area and I absolutely DO NOT want FUSION.
My doctor tells me to keep working on my core but I have been doing PT and personal training as well but it's not getting to the root of this degenerative disc.

I recently read about PRP and stem cell for disc regeneration on this group. Is there a way I can connect with those people who have done it so I could ask more questions?

Thank you!

Hi laurielee I'm wondering if you got any reply to connect with other members on this forum about PRP stem cell procedure?
I'm also looking into it for my teenage son and I would love to hear from other people. Thanks

And had actually asked if I were a candidate--It's apologize in advance to the moderators for listing the following"name" of this procedure (AS I don't know if it's trademarked by the company where I had heard about it): The name of the procedure is called "Regenedisc" and it is as you described--using YOUR OWN (given the controversial nature of stem cell therapies, thought I'd better cover my butt there, too!)cells to regenerate disc formation.
Due to the advanced deterioration of my spine, I was told I didn't qualify for this treatment, but eventually, it was brought to my attention that my insurance wouldn't cover ANY procedure at this facility. However, in between the denial of the Regenedisc and the insurance, the facility doctor said my problem would be "easily" handled by a foraminal laminotomy. I CANNOT tell you what a tremendous stroke of luck it was for me that my insurance wasn't accepted. I just had fusion surgery a few weeks ago, and after the surgeon got in there, discovered I had 2 fractures. A simple laminotomy would NOT have fixed the problem--not to mention having to add another surgery to my schedule when the laminotomy proved useless. I'm not telling you this to dissuade you in ANY way from a procedure that might be the right answer for you, I'm simply encouraging you to be cautious and thorough about ANYTHING and EVERYTHING when it comes to your anatomy--especially the spine! Fusion sounded scary to me, too!! I'm having the expected good/bad days, but I do believe my overall recovery is going very well. Keep ALL of your possibilities open, as you never know if the one thing that might help you the most is the option you've considered the least (last!).
Take care of yourself! This process can be so confusing and draining! I hope you can find some helpful information here....best of luck!
