Does anyone else wake up in excruciating pain?

Hi there. Since I've had this pinched nerve in the neck (c6) I've been waking up everyday in excruciating pain. It's absolutely horrible. It can take me hours to gather enough strength to get out of bed. My right arm/shoulder especially hurts and feels like it's going to fall off. It also feels like I have no control or strength to push my body out of bed. Is there anyway to reduce this pain when I wake up? I've been taking the meds and the meds only seem to be helping when I'm awake. My arm just feels unusually heavy and not a part of my body during the day and with too much activity my shoulder/arm starts to ache and get into that state of pain, I experience in the morning.

  • I find the pain for me is more noticeable at night once the rest of my body relaxes and first thing upon waking from being stiff. The lack of strength in the arm is also common with a pinched cervical nerve.

Even the percocet I take only relaxes me a bit and takes the edge off the nerve pain. But, I've found icing the base of the neck while heating the arm also helps. (Ice for inflammation; heat for pain).

I hope you have a follow up appointment coming soon; with that much weakness it seems the nerve us pretty crushed. Good luck and I hope you get some rest.
