Pregnancy after microdiscectomy

Hi everyone,

Firstly thank you. I had extreme pain and underwent a micro & lam. December 2014. This site was a great support in my journey into learning about my new world of back related issues and living with constant pain.

Since surgery (L5,S1) I have numbness/ less sensation in my calf and outside of my foot and toes. I have ongoing pain in my lower back, nerve sensations throughout my leg. I have started to feel sensations on my non affected side too. In the bum area and twangs in the leg, similar to how my affected side first began.

I followed up with Physio and slight exercises. Still to this day.

I am pondering the issue of pregnancy. If you have an opinion, please comment.

I already have two children and think, am I pushing the limits trying for a third? Is it worth the risk of complications for my back? I am 30 yrs old should I just let it be? Etc etc ....!!!

My Physio did ask me sometime ago if more children is on the cards, which I responded I would love another but maybe not. To which she advised that she thought that I may be quite uncomfortable during pregnancy. That's pretty much where we left it and didn't go into further detail.

I wouldn't make A decision before gaining advise from my medical professionals. But does anybody want to add an opinion or experience in having children with back issues?

Thanks again.
