L4-L5 with L5 nerve root compression

After months of back and leg pain I was able to get an MRI. The results determined I have degenerative disc disease with a herniation of 5.7mm between L4 and L-5 with compression of the L5 root. Unlike a lot of the forums I have read, sitting is not my issue. Standing and walking for any prolonged length of time are very painful in my low back, hip (butt) and leg, all on the left side. Just wondering if anyone has had a similar situation and how they approached recovering.

  • Yes. I have no pain really. And I have severe spinal stenosis. And spondylitis. Slipped disc L45 I get numb when walking or standing right leg foot. I have to constantly sit to make stop. I am 64 years old. I am scared surgery will leave me disabled. I'm very active, I work and always on the go. Not sure what do. Scared nerves damaged. Had epidrals. No help. Nothing helps My leg also feels weak. Upon standing.
