Post Liscectomy/Laminectomy

Hi spine healthers!

I not so long ago posted about my decision whether or not to have a surgery on 2 discs. Anyway after it getting worse I decided to go ahead.

I am now day 9 post op! I had Laminectomy and Discectomy at l4/l5 and l5/s1. Surgery was just under 2 hours and everything went just fine. L5/s1 being quite severely herniated.

Was able to walk the short distance to the toilet not long after op, with the help of a trolley and a nurse. Stayed overnight, and after meeting with my surgeon and 2 physios I was back home by 4pm day after surgery. (Very painful15 minute journey home)

Since then I have been trying to walk and exercise as much as I can. Little and often. Before surgery I suffered quite severe leg pain on my
Left side after standing for only a short amount of time. This has now seemed
To of disappeared! I now get smallish leg pain when lying down which I have never had before, I put this down to the nerves healing! The only real pain I get now is from the surgical wound. Having my staples removed tomorrow. I do seem to get very tired easily and sleeping a good 10/11 hours every night! Which again I put down to healing.

All in all the surgery so far has been a success, really hoping it continues and I can get back to paying sports later this year maybe as jays what I love to do.

Anyone got any advice on when I should ramp up my exercise and PT? And how long you were off work, I have a job on a golf course so quite a lot of heavy lifting.

Sorry if I've rambled on!!
