I am 57 had my 1st Cervical Discectomy & Fusion surgery at 39 for a serious herniated disc that was compromising my spinal cord, then had 2 other Cervical fusions the last one was in 2005. My neck is essentially all fused (also had an auto fuse as a kid) have Cervical & Lumbar Stenosis, recently was told my last fusion at C-7 did not fuse correctly and needed to be redone (also plate is pressing in on my esophagus) . My Neurosurgeon also suggested that do to Cervical Radiculopathy & Mylelopathy pain he wanted to do a Laminectomy which I find very frightening! Have extreme pain in Neck, both arms, getting weaker in arms & legs/walking and loosing my balance all the time I am very worried, also have Lupus, RA and Type 2 diabetic. Didn't heal well on my first surgery at 39 and 18 years later and all the autoimmune diseases so afraid of another surgery but also scared of consequences if I don't . Anybody out there have a Laminectomy?
