Hello all,

Like everyone else I'm so happy to have found this site! Finally, people to "talk" to that have gone or are going through similar issues.

Here's my history:

Oct '05 I started feeling a slight twinge in my lower back which quickly grew into unbearable pain across my lower back into my hips and down both my legs to the knee that drove me to the doctor in tears. X-ray showed DDD in lower spine.

After multiple trips to chiro, GP and PT a CT scan in June '06 showed a mild herniation at L4 and a significant herniation at L5/S1 but that it didn't appear to affect the nerve. When I went back to PT with the results she was like "Oh, well then we've been treating this all wrong." and she started traction. The relief was awesome.

In Nov '07 I lost about 10 lbs and for the first time in almost 2 years I was finally pain free.

Feb'08 I started feeling a twinge in my left hip. Chiro and PT didn't help this time.

June '08 2nd CT scan showed the disc at L5/S1 had gotten worse and was now pushing against my sciatic nerve. Around this time my left thigh started getting weird sensations. I have now lost a significant amount of sensation in my left foot and it is creeping up and has started to affect my ankle and at times my lower calf.

July '08 GP has sent a referral to the local orthopedic surgeon but I haven't heard from him yet. GP figures it's an 80-90% chance I'll need surgery. PT has told me there is nothing else they can do for me at this time.

So that's me. Playing the waiting game yet again. :(
