Kundalini Yoga

Wasn't able to find anything about this kind of yoga, so I just thought I'd share my experience with this.

About 3 months ago I started doing this (a litter here and there) with an awesome beginners dvd (if this part is deleted, sorry not sure if its ok to post it) called "Kundalini Yoga for Beginners & Beyond with Ana Brett and Ravi Singh". I have only gotten all the way through (doing only what I could) the first section for beginners, as the second requires laying on my back on the floor, which I still can't do without much problems with pain and getting back up again.

I had to stop for several months because I began to experience stronger pain that my meds were not working on. When I started again, at the beginning when they start with a mantra, and a little meditation, and I actually got tears in my eyes, and then felt extremely uplifted. I don't know why I had that reaction, but I gotta tell you, it made me feel better about myself, and also made me want to get healthy again, or actually, it made me feel I CAN get better again.

I find many of the "exercises" felt extremely good, but of course, I am unable to do them as quickly or as many as she does, and they are always telling you it's ok to go at your own pace, and to stop if you have to, but at the same time actually making you feel better if you continue just a little bit longer. Many times I stop and return to meditation during the exercises, and sometimes pause it to meditate longer between sets. The deep meditation at the end is great too (I do it laying on my couch Big Grin )

If you are well enough, AND CAN GET AN OK FROM YOUR DOCTOR, I recommend it, it's an extremely feel-good experience. Even if you only do a little of the exercises, the meditation is the best!

Be well!

Big Hug

My PM Dr gave me a relaxation package

that includes some yoga or relaxation excercises. I tell myself to relax and let thoughts come and accept them without reacting to the thoughts. The light above your head that goes in your heart I picture as God's healing power as opposed to just a light and feel it helps. I'm glad the yoga is working for you. Take care. Charry

Yoga has been the best for me

Yoga has saved me from having surgery for years (finally caught up with me & having L4-5 & L5-S1 ALIF next Thurs.) Any ideas about when I can go back to doing it post surgery (docs told me "never")? I've done bikram (hot) yoga 5 days a week for the past 4 years. Occasionally go to kundalini classes as well. Kept me flexible and keep my mind off the pain.

Thanks for the informations!
