Any exercise regime while in pain or recovering gets my vote. Although I am still in pain I cycle, me and Lance he is in my head and I am riding the bike, he keeps telling me to push harder and I am trying. My objective last year was to ride up Alp Bowland, 700m unaided and without oxygen or my GTN, so here I am on top of my world I can see the sea, not a big crowd, plenty of sheep and moorland but I have my arms aloft in triumph and a few tears
Many ants passed me on the road and another cyclist, I asked him did this accent go to heaven, he laughed so hard he nearly had to stop and I felt guilty. Cav wants to try this one, I descended like a stone, as aerodynamic as a Mack, boy was that fun. A year of training has gone into that and possibly never again. I am now ready for a cucumber sandwich and a cool drink.
Take care always wear protection, even when cycling.

I'm impressed! You are proof that back problems don't have to turn us into wimps! (I'm a wimp now. I used to not be. I'm axiety ridden because of cervical problems.)---Mazy
Wimp is the wrong word and you are being protective with is understandable, nobody in continual pain is as wimp and this phase will pass and you will achieve your own goals, this is about reaching your potential and that differs for each and every one of us, my example works for me at this time and others could make additional effort without the expected results.
This is the nature of pain, others can do things that I cannot at this time and achievement take many forms. I understand you being cautious and if this legitimately stops you from doing things then you may need to assess the realistic possibility of the risk involved for you.
My wife had two miscarriages and it is understandable that you proceed with the necessary concern.
Take care your turn will come.

Thanks for the encouragement! I am overprotective about my neck. Even my last N/S told me "go out and live your life." And, intellectually I know that is what I should do. Life is so short! Mentally I'm scared of hurting myself more! I know myself that I am my worry makes it worse. And, yet I miss biking and running so much. The way I act doesn't make sense. I am grateful that I am not worse off. When I go out for walks I see runners and bikers go past me, and I'm jealous. So, keep us posted of your accomplishments. It gives me some confidence when I hear of others getting on with activities they enjoy! ---Mazy
