Thanks to Aviatrix and JJ for responding to my original post. I am happy to say that I received my back pay yesterday.
I am just still so amazed, shocked and grateful for all of this. This has truly turned my familys life around.
I was officially approved on October 30th, and got the back pay November 20th. That is just amazing!!!! I still have to fill out the apps for my childrens benefits, then I will get yet another back pay check.
I believe mine was so quick because I was found disabled from the time I quit working in June of 07, so my back pay goes back to December 07. I could be wrong though.
I wish all of you going through this process the best of luck. I applied first in December of 07, was denied May 08, appealed immediately and was denied again in July 08. My point is, don't give up. It's a long process, but totally worth it.
Thanks again everyone!!!!!
Caity
P.S. And Jeaux, I don't know what I would have done without you. Thank you so much for the advice and for calming me down when I was so restless. I appreciate it more than you know.

Caity,
Huge HUGZ to your success!!! Yes your "assumption" reference being paid from when your disability knocked you out of working is correct! Once they see "when" you stopped working due to your disability, that is where they set the pay - you were/are correct. I am sooooooo glad to be able to help where I can, and even HAPPIER to see posts such as yours.
I am presently going through the process for my Federal Disability Retirement, and too have to file for SSDI. I am not worried about the SSDI side, as if I don't get it, my Federal benefits take care of "their" side till 62, and if they do approve, then that piece isn't paid in my Federal Disability Retirement - it's basically a wash if you will.
Glad to see you're getting your children added. When they are not included in the initial application as you now know, adding them is a pretty easy process. Once SS knows of it, they make the changes, and to adjust it on your records and payments accordingly.
Again woman *HUGZ* and Congrats!!!!!
A happy Brenda (Aviatrix)

What I meant by " believe mine was so quick because I was found disabled from the time I quit working in June of 07, so my back pay goes back to December 07. I could be wrong though" is that I think the back pay was deposited so quickly because I was owed 2 years pay. I knew I was deemed disabled in June 07, which is why I got the back pay.
Thanks again and good luck to you!!!!

I was thinking of you because I too got my back pay today! I was also found disabled as soon as I stopped working in Dec 07. I got my approval letter on November 2 and got my back pay today. I am so glad that it worked out for you.
Even though I was found disabled as of Dec 17, 2007 my SS effective date was only back to June 1, 08. So it does not always pay you all of the way back to your date of disability.
I am in no way associated with the medical field. Anything that I post comes from personal experience only.

That is great! I am so happy for you. Yep, the good old 5 month waiting period. I was found disabled in June 07, and my payment eligibility started in December. I'm totally OK with it though! I am soo grateful! Words can't even describe it.
It's weird though because I haven't received an approval or award letter yet.
