Darn I think my disc has gone again

A couple days ago I had a really bad tummy bug and in one of my mad dashes to the bathroom, I think my disk might have reherniated. Really bad back pain, referred pain in my hip, back of thigh and knee and my foot is numb across the heel and the outer part of the sole. It was so bad yesterday I hauled my cane out again.

I'm just so upset and angry with myself. Good thing I see the surgeon again in two weeks!!

Hi Scottiegal

Wave Big Grin
Funny you should post about this particular subject -- No one ever gives you instructions on how to have a BM and not screw up your back. I have had some stomach distress myself with all the bugs going around right now, and I think the lower back strain I feel right now is from my bathroom runs also.

I certainly hope this is just a temporary setback for you and that some ice and meds (maybe prednisone pack) will make you feel better. I didn't get surgery for my bulging disk at L4/L5 and the sciatica has been much better during the summer but now has flared up again out of nowhere -- SO, I understand how "bummed out" you are about this new development.

Hanging in there with you!

Judy

2010 Update: Sciatica resolved itself but still dealing with fibromyalgia symptoms that come and go. Walking 3 miles a day, fibro permitting.

2011 Update: Back to work since June.

Herniated disk (L5) no surgeries to date, super nasty nerve pain, left leg. 3 epidurals (Jan, Feb 09) (Short term relief) June 09, Second opinion from Ortho doc with new MRI -- not a surgery candidate -- referred to pain management doctor.
