disc pain without leg pain

Hello,
I am wondering if anyone can provide feedback.
I have had low back trouble for two plus years now.
Both manual observation/palpation by therapists and MRI have confirmed it's in L4-L5. the MRI shows a disc bulge/extrusion in this area impinging on the nerve.
However, I have no leg pain assoc with this.
Any thoughts about this as to what this is? Am I correc that many disc bulges/herniations also create leg pain?
many thank,s

Yes and no

Some go through life with bulging discs and never complain. It just doesn't impinge on the nerve enough to cause them any real pain. Many feel that nerve impingement from the disc. It show up in the form of pain in other areas. Like legs, arms, internal organs, etc...

Having DDD means a disc is wearing away. You would have back pain that is arthritic in nature. Take an Advil and you feel fine. For those people they really need not do much other than basic PT to help protect themselves.

There is no pat answer to what -you- should feel when -your- disc is not quite right. There are common pains associated with each disc area. So naturally that is where doctors expect you to complain about pain first.

Talk to your doctor and go for the most minimal solution possible.
