Hi, Everyone
I love the people on here because they are so supportive. It can get depressing at times with the pain we go through and this place helps to vent. It really does help to talk to others that know what you are going through. THANK YOU EVERYONE AND GOD BLESS YOU

Love you too!
(and I haven't taken any meds today so you know that's from the heart).
I stop by here at least 1X/day...they say misery loves company but I think it's more "Birds of a feather flock together"....it makes us stronger to have people who really understand.
My boss asked me today...how are you doing?
Does your doctor think the pain in your leg will go away soon? Did the surgery work? I try to explain that it's not that easy. He finally gets it a bit b/c my medical contact at work disability sits in the same building and she stopped by to explain to him that he needs to back off.
Anyhow...great post. Gentle hugs!
I don't know where in the world you are, but I thought I'd add my 'two pence worth' and say that hugs come to you (and all peeps experiencing back pain) from the United Kingdom (South Yorkshire to be precise).
I agree that this is a great, supportive forum and when you get comments from people, you know that everyone is going through the same thing, pretty much.
I've posted my lower back pain and associated problems before and this forum has really helped me to know that I'm not alone. It is comforting to receive encouraging comments, which definitely help to lift my spirits and help me to be a little more positive about the future.
As an up-date to my own circumstances, I've been to see my consultant this week (who I was referred to for a second opinion because no-one else could help over the past 4 and a half years) and he's recommending a 2-level fusion later in the year. I'm obviously very worried about this as I've heard it's very invasive surgery and, nearer the time, I will no doubt post again to get other people's views on their own experiences (good and bad!) and ask for any tips on helping myself through it post-operatively.
So, whenever you feel a little low, pop in and share it so we can all support you as best as we can.
Ha, I love you all too!!!! Take care and G-d bless xx

June & July 1995 - Microdisectomy (twice) on L5-S1. Over the years I have also tried: Facet Joint Injections, Epidurals, Radio Frequency Ablations, Physio & Hydro therapy, Chiropractic sessions, Pain Management , TENS, Heat/ice treatment, numerous different pain medications, bought specialist equipment, MBT shoes + losing weight etc!!! July 2010 - 2-level PLIF (L4-L5, L5-S1). 26 May 2011 – Had 2 further spine injections for ongoing back pain. Unfortunately I am now back on weekly Butrans patches and Morphine Oral Solution when I need it – I was on these meds before the fusion. UPDATE - had revision surgery (4th) on 22 December 2011 - I had 3 screws and all the hardware replaced. However, I'm still experiencing ongoing back/r buttock pain as before and it's confirmed that I now have Sacro-iliac dysfunction + now awaiting steroid S.I. injection. I still WON'T GIVE UP/IN, but don't ever want spine surgery again, EVER!!!!
Yes it feels good to have support and not feel so alone anymore. It feels like there's a real kinship here. Take care. God bless you. Charry

SouthForkGirl...how are you doing this week?
Any less pain this week?
I had high hopes of going out for a St. Patty's day Beer by now...no such luck as I'm almost off pain meds but finding I need to take low-dose (OTC) tylenol which doesn't mix with alcohol. I guess the positive lining in that is I won't have to worry about being bumped by any crowds. Anyhow, wishing you the luck -o-the Irish today for at least one pain free day. I hope we all find our pot of gold in the form of 100% successful recovery!
Gentle Hugs.
Im doing ok today. There is always pain to deal with but I just keep on truckin. I think we learn to deal with this in our own ways. Life is beautiful always! We at least are alive and that is great in itself. I hope you are doing great. Its a beautiful day! Love to all

Glad you are having a 'positive' day.
I try to take my days as positive and less than positive days. Sometimes, the pain really isn't the issue.
Luckily it's beautiful here this week.
Since I'm only working 4 hr/day from home, I got my hours in early today and sat (well walked around) with the dog outside (don't worry, she wasn't on a leash so no risk of getting pulled). It's amazing what sunlight will do.
My husband noticed my good mood. I said "yeah, well, I put on shorts and at least my legs don't look bad. The weight I gained is all around my middle". He laughed.
I told him I really don't feel like I'm progressing but I know it's early so I have to keep the faith....until I hit my 3-month mark and can ask for an MRI to ensure I didn't re-herniate.
I guess feeling like I have a plan and milestones helps. And, having sunshine on my face, a dog curled up by my feet, and a great supportive husband helps!
I come back to this thread to remember how lucky I am to have found this board.
Yes I've noticed too that, people are very supportive and there is mutual understanding. I guess it's right that if there was no suffering there would be no compassion.
