Hi there,
I've just been told that I'm entitled to some Government help known here in the UK as DLA which is Disabilty Living Allowance.
I believe that this small amount of money(£49.00approx) can be used in conjunction with another Gov' initiative called Mobility whereby it goes towards the running costs of a new car.
Does anyone have any knowledge of this ?
On February 9th 2010 I had PERCUDYN STABILIZATION SURGERY which appeared to have worked short term.Following CT,Bone Scans and x rays it appeared that one of the screws had worked lose. To remedy this I had fusion of L4/5 done on November 16th and recovery is going slowly but surely.
I'm not a doctor but I am strongly opinionated so please ignore any advice I give.
hi scott i have sent you a PM
tony
2010 just had a discography and now waiting for an ALIF open fusion {360 degree}
just in case you don't get the PM order a pack from the government website and don't attempt to fill it in yourself {very important that you don't !!!!!} get in touch with the CAB in your area and ask for a home visit from the person that fills in the packs ..

Hi Tony i've replied to your PM-thanks.
On February 9th 2010 I had PERCUDYN STABILIZATION SURGERY which appeared to have worked short term.Following CT,Bone Scans and x rays it appeared that one of the screws had worked lose. To remedy this I had fusion of L4/5 done on November 16th and recovery is going slowly but surely.

you can contact your local Welfare Rights office, who can either meet you at home (if you are unable to walk) or, as in my case, have a clinic at the local doctor's surgery.
I'm meeting them next week. Trouble is, I don't know what they are looking for. Do I fill in the form that represents my 'worst' day? Does anyone know? Hopefully, when I meet the welfare rights officer, they will advise me.
I did apply 4 years ago, but was rejected and didn't follow it up. Now I've had 2'level fusion surgery, I think my circumstances will remain the same for quite a while yet.
I'd like to be able to use it for a) paying my hubby and/or daughter who drive me to Stockton on Tees and everywhere locally (South Yorkshire) and perhaps buy some specialist furniture, i.e. a recliner chair like Strakers (Tony) - I don't know if this is possible with DLA? Does any know this either?
Thanks

June & July 1995 - Microdisectomy (twice) on L5-S1. Over the years I have also tried: Facet Joint Injections, Epidurals, Radio Frequency Ablations, Physio & Hydro therapy, Chiropractic sessions, Pain Management , TENS, Heat/ice treatment, numerous different pain medications, bought specialist equipment, MBT shoes + losing weight etc!!! July 2010 - 2-level PLIF (L4-L5, L5-S1). 26 May 2011 – Had 2 further spine injections for ongoing back pain. Unfortunately I am now back on weekly Butrans patches and Morphine Oral Solution when I need it – I was on these meds before the fusion. UPDATE - had revision surgery (4th) on 22 December 2011 - I had 3 screws and all the hardware replaced. However, I'm still experiencing ongoing back/r buttock pain as before and it's confirmed that I now have Sacro-iliac dysfunction + now awaiting steroid S.I. injection. I still WON'T GIVE UP/IN, but don't ever want spine surgery again, EVER!!!!
i filled the forms in myself and got it first time, i stated what i could do on a good day and what i could do on a bad day, all the way through the forms just state you have good and bad days.
i also sent info about spinal fusion and artificial disc replacement as these 2 options were in my future management plans (as of yet i have not had surgery).
there are 2 parts to DLA, help with personal care which you can use the money for anything, and its paid at 3 rates?? and help with getting around, the money can be used for a car or you can have the money to spend as you see fit, paid at 2 rates ??
google it, hope this is of some help
spondylolisthesis L5 S1

recommend the CAB ..maybe scott and Shirley have been lucky to be awarded DLA first time ..some authorities are much stricter than others ..i was refused 2 times and when i took it to appeal was knocked back again ! this time my doctor told me that he would back me 100 percent and it was him that advised the CAB ..AND HE WAS RIGHT BECAUSE I GOT THE MAX AMOUT DUE TO ME ..unfortunately there are some that abuse the system and ruined it for genuine people like us .i think manchester has the worse amount of false claimants ..so that's why i was refused ..and remember its not so much about your disability itself ..its more how your disability effects you on a day to day basis {no one wants to be on benefit and admit that you have a permanent health issue but if you are ill and going to be for a long time ..this is money that's got your name on it ..don't get me wrong if you can work then work .but genuine people with issues like ours are not claiming anything that they are not entitled too
