MRI for tightening sharp pain at L1-L2 spine

I went to my Dr. today and told her my L1-L2 area was feeling much worse. The orginal MRI said mild foraminal narrowing at L1-L2 conus so I asked if I could get another MRI because I'm having so much pain there moreso than last year and it feels like a tightening with a needle right there. She thinks it's only muscle pain but she agreed I could have the MRI just to make sure. It may still be referred pain from the herniated disc but My back feels so tight. Has anyone felt this kind of tightening pain not relieved by meds? Thanks. Charry

My 2nd MRI showed no herniated disc and no stenosis. Mild loss of signal intensity in intervertebral discs L1-S1 and mild loss of height from L1-L4. Mild DDD throughout the lumber spine. Still have back pain and some leg tingling, numbness though. 3rd opinion Neurosurgeon Oct. 6, 2009.

DRX9000 (tm) decompression machine for back pain

Does anyone know anything about this "machine"? A local chiropractor has one and makes great claims for successfully treating back pain.

I have the same thing

Charry, I have the same thing going on. The tightness in my back is very close to the surgical site. (L4/5) The surgeon doesn't understand why this is happening but can easily feel it just by lightly touching my back in that area. I am also having horrible pain in my left hip. I need my cane more before. And the numbness, burning, and tingling is still happening in both feet and is usually happening above both ankles. Sometimes it will radiate even higher.

I hope the dr can figure out what's going on for you and what can be done to fix it. I'm sick and tired of the dr and PM saying that I need more time to heal and simply throwing more meds at me. I want to know what's going on and if there is something that can be done to fix it not try to mask it. For the last three days, I have been in horrible pain and been very close to telling hubby that I need to go to the ER.

Hugs and prayers for you girl! Let s know what happens!!

Sorry this is so long.

Thanks

My Dr doubled the does of cymbalta and I'm concerned about going to 120mg as it's not a normal dose I hear. I hope the MRI will show what's going on.I think the mild foraminal narrowing is increasing but hard to just guess and I just have to wait for the MRi. I have the two ankles acting up also but it's much better while taking cymbalta. I'm just nervous about the high dose. I really don't want anymore facet joint injections becuse they don't do the nerve burn so what good are the facet joint injectons without the IDET? I'm going to go to massage and try physio again in the meantime. My Dr is thinking of switching me to oxyccontin but I have mood reactions to percocet so I'm staying with the ms contin right now. Anyways thanks for responding. Charry
