Well ive been to london although i only saw the hospital and hotel most off the time lol( i was caring for my sister who had breast augmention as her breasts had not developed when she was a teenager)she did really great and had very little discomfort,as for me a lived on sandwiches but did manage to walk from the hotel to the hospital which was about 2 miles a few times.

Dispite eating sandwiches for dinner every night i lost 1 pound this week which im really grateful for, hopefully the walking made up for the bread. can t believe ive lost 6 pounds in 3 weeks i could not have done it without you guys so a big thank you for all your support (gosh i feel like im at the oscars lol) hope you all had a good result, and remember whatever the results tomorrow is a new day

Well I hate to admit that I gained a pound! I was really good all week until yesterday, I had a surprise birthday party for my mother who turned 70. It was a blast and I saw so many people that I haven't seen in years! That lb was worth it. I will just have to work harder this week. I just finished watching Joel Olstein, he makes me feel better about everything...Now I am getting ready to go to work. Thanks for welcoming me so warmly. I will check in with you later.

Welcome Ewaight, don't worry

Welcome Ewaight, don't worry Laura and well done to Ben and Jenny.

I stayed the same. I took hubby out for his birthday dinner, of course we had to do the Gourmand Menu (I lost count of how many courses). Well it would have been rude not to as someone had worked hard all morning preparing it!!

See you all next week

Wow

lots of new members here to witness my disgrace. Jenny and Elaine, I found that 2 pounds that you two lost! I am disgusted with myself. I know that the Cymbalta is doing this to me and wished I would have realized before my last visit to the doc. I am not scheduled to see him for two months but I may get in earlier in order to get off the Cymbalta. I am so glad to see the rest of you doing well and I too will aim for 1 lb this week. Good luck to all and I will check back in.
Oh yeah and welcome to all of the newbies. We love to have new people join because that means that we will all have more support here. And remember whether a gain or loss try and still keep checking in. We all try and encourage each other no matter what.

Ive been on cymbalta

for about a year and a half now. It doesnt really make me tired at all. My husand doesnt want me to stop taking it because he says the couple times ve run out of it for a couple days Ive gotten very depressed. I think that was just a coincidence. I was put on them because I was having anxiety atacks.

NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!!!

There is no pain worse than an abcess tooth! I actually have two of them but the Cymbalta stopped the pain. Did not do a darn thing for back or leg but works wonders for the teeth! I am trying to hold out til January because my dental insurance is maxed out for this year. That is one reason that I continue with the Cymbalta. It just makes me sleep and eat and I can't stand that part of it.
Elaine, Good luck with your tooth and with hubby. One thing I can not take is a bad toothache so I really feel for you.

Thanks

for the warm welcome guys. My goal this week is to not gain. I am back on a very small dose of the chantix to get of the cigs for the 50th time. Trying not to turn to food.
My downfall is red wine. I don't do well with meds so that is how I handle my pain. A glass of wine after work just makes the stress go away. Then another will fixing dinner.

I was on Cymbalta for the last 3 months and have just gone off. I feel much better without it and am getting out of bed in the AM much easier. Actually, I don't seem to be able to stay in bed much which is probably just as bad.

Pain, I do not know what dose you are on but maybe your Doc could phone in a reduced amount and save you a visit?

I decided that I wanted to quit taking the Cymbalta so my doc phoned in a scrip for one week of 20mg. I had been on 40mg.

A really great accomplishment!

Ewaight,:) good morning! you have some medication problems but don't let that stop you here. we have found that maintaining is so important because we do have medical issues. the inability to exercise because of pain and medication problems may mean a a reduction in your food plan and then letting your bodies run its' course. not much we can do about some things!! drink plenty of water though. without smoking your body might be needing more water now. even fresh air has to be good for your lungs. congratulations on that accomplishment. smiley i wish you all the best and let us support you as you stop smoking as well. what a good idea to seek a doctor's advice.let us talk about pain as well.!! have a good week and check in any time!!!! A smoothie!

smiley i like a morning smoothie with fresh, frozen strawberries. the frozen berries makes it thicker. use 1% or if you can non-fat milk. i add in alittle honey and psyllium which works for bathroom problems. sometimes i put in a halve a banana as well. blend together and you have a great way to start the day and be healthy. enjoy! =D> Jenny smiley

Elaine and Ewaight

Elaine, I started taking Cymbalta and my tooth pain went away. That is the only way that I am making it til January because I feel no pain. I would give just about anything for a good flood. It is so dry here in SC that most all counties have been declared a disaster area. I have never seen it this bad!

Ewaight, I started on 30 mgs and went to 60 mgs. It works very well for my anxiety but I was always very sleepy and my doc said it could not be the Cymbalta making me so sleepy. Well, I went to mayoclinic.com and sure enough it listed extreme sleepiness along with weight gain as side effects. I am trying hard to tolerate it til January because my dental insurance is maxed out until then. I have already had two rootcanals, a removal and a 3 crown bridge this year. I keep saying that I am going to get all my uppers pulled for dentures. Everyone says that I will regret it but I doubt it.

I am to the point that I am sleeping 15 -16 hours of a 24 hour day! I have to wake up and get my food plan back in order because my appetite is just about how it is on steroids! I must start making healthier choices again.

Too much sleep!

smiley painintheback, you can eat, just eat healthy. wake up and have something ready to eat. planning ahead when you are awake for the times after sleeping might make it alitttle easier. i know if i wake up and i am hungry i usually grab the first thing that looks good regardless of the calorie count. get some fruit in there and cleaned vegies like celery and carrots. maybe that would give you the start you need!! you seem to have some teeth problems and that will change what you can eat as well. it is not easy!!! smiley i am dozing during the day and am awake alot of the night! i know how that can really put a "regular" life aside! Nerve pain is distracting!

smiley aimless, nerve pain is not only painful but very distracting. take good care of yourself and eat well when you can. i think of HALT when i go into the kitchen and it has stopped me more that once from overeating. i really do understand how you are feeling. i have severe sciatica and am having trouble sleeping. i am sure you on are a nerve pain medication but i had to mention it. get some rest and take care of yourself. you are most important. You make me smile Jenny

Thank you! I needed that.
I added Neurontin to the mix this week, we'll see if it helps with the pain.

I went out for lunch today. I indulged. I have been doing pretty well, so I am not going to beat myself up over it, by I may re-calibrate my "1 lb. loss" goal for the week to a "maintain" goal for the week! Okay I guess its too late to change smiley

Maintenance is ok!

smiley aimless, on this forum it is never to late to change your mind. we are women after all! lol! don't be too hard on yourself. this forum is supposed to give you the ability to fell good about yourself and that is important! i had to weigh at the doctor's today and it sure was a disappointment. i know we aren't supposed to and he just did not get it, so onto the scale i went. needless to say it didn't look good. i still have high hopes this week but may be on maintenance with you!!really that scale is a dangerous tool when used inappropriately! lol! it could lead me to a breakdown! lol! so eat healthy the rest of the week and know you did your best!! i am on Lyrica which is alot like Neurontin and it has helped me. takes awhile so be patient! i really hope that makes a difference for you. Fresh Fruit

One thing about that is during the winter months most of us do not have a variety of fresh fruit to choose from. I also like cottage cheese with pineapplea.
Elaine, You will not be the lone stranger this week! I have had terrible pain (back, hip, leg, not teeth yet)this week also and the cymbalta is alot like steroids to me in that it sends my appetite off the charts. I talked to another member who said the cymbalta takes their appetite away so it shows how different we all are. I started titrating down yesterday as I can not stand sleeping 18-20 hours a day anymore and am looking forward to getting my eating habits back under control. I am down to 30 mgs and I feel better already. But, I am sure that I will have a gain this week.
please describe what snack a jacks are? not like cracker jacks I hope.

benji55 (not verified)

snack a jack

snack a jacks are like little rice cakes they come in chilli, chocolate and toffee flavour and are low fat.

I am so not hopeful for tomorrow even though i went to a bbq last night and only had chicken salad and diet coke,i was the only sober one there lol, they had a rodeo bull which people where going on it was so funny, few years ago i would have been the first one on it but not a chance now with this back lol
on a more postive note im going for a trial at the gym where they have mechenical beds for people who cannot use the gym,so hopefully if that agrea s with me il go every other day, just want to get the weigh in tomorrow over and done with so i can start a new week

Weigh-in day

smiley quite a few of us are having alot of anxiety and trepidation about the weigh in tomorrow. ~X( i look at as the beginning and not the end of the week.Sunday's gain or loss or maintenance is the beginning of a new week for me. so let's get happy and not dread weigh in day.look at as your new beginning for the week! what weight will you start the week off with? that is the only challenge really. now everyone relax, take a few deep breathes and let Sunday roll here and and then be gone. smiley We have proved we are a group of tough women and we can't let weigh in day bring us down. would it be better to not have weigh in day? what do y'all think of that? Jenny smiley
