muscle stim for foot drop??

I have foot drop in my left foot. I had it before my discectomy/lami and now it seems even worse.

I have been using a muscle stimulator to try to get my foot to lift. Has anyone who has/had foot drop had any success with using a muscle stimulator to help fix foot drop. Do you know what the chances are of movement coming back?

Thanks, hope everyone is doing okay.

Karen, The problem is

Karen,
The problem is nerves, not muscles. The muscles are ready and waiting for orders that don't come.
I had foot drop and all I could do was wear a plastic L shaped brace which fitted inside my shoe. It was uncomfortable and only helped by stopping the tip of my foot catching somewhat. After a short period I would have to take it off.
Things didn't return to normal for a while after surgery but did eventually.

Hi Mick

Glad to hear that things got better for you with your foot drop. Thanks for the info, I was also wondering how it would help, but thought it can't hurt, and physio recommended.

I have stopped using the muscle stim, as it just made my foot more tired and caused more problems. I find that sometimes things seem to be a bit better at times and I can move my toes...at other times they don't want to do anything.

Hopefully in time, more movement will continue to happen more often.
