When were you able to do aerobic-level exercise after ACDF?

I'm likely having ACDF surgery on C5-6 and C6-7 in a few weeks, because of herniated disks pressing into my spinal cord with some evidence of mayelomalacia. I have mild weakness and tingling in my left leg and left arm, and no clear idea if those will go away after the surgery.

How long after your ACDF (or similar) surgery was it before you were able to engage in some kind of exercise for at least 20 minutes that got your heart rate up and caused you to break a sweat? What types of exercise do you do (running, walking, elliptical, bike, zumba class, etc.)? Do you have any advice based on your experiences of returning to active exercise?

Thanks!

That type of information

can only come from your doctor. You need to ask your doctor when they believe you could return to some exercise program and what would be allowed and what should not be done.

Folks here can only give you their own experience. So that could mean from 5 weeks to 30 weeks.

Each person is different, that is why it is important to get this information from your own doctor.

I'm very clear that this will vary widely

I definitely know this, which is why I simply asked how long it took others to get back to this type of exercise, and not how long it might take in general. I'm very clear that what I'll be able to do will depend on my own body and my own healing, but just trying to get a general feel of what that was like for others.
