Okay I am starting to really get scared now. My right pointer finger has been numb for over a day. Is it common for people with c stenosis to have this in just one finger? Does it normally remain numb or come and go?
It can! three of my left hand fingers are numb. I forget, did you mention that you have myelopathy or no?
_____________
Cervical myelopathy, 16 surgeries to date, Severe OA, bilateral knee replacements, DDD, 13 MRI’s, 4 sets of spinal cortisone procedures and dozens of cortisone shots in other areas for OA. Upcoming scheduled surgeries include laminectomy and removal of synovial cyst located at left facet joint of L4-L5 (may require fusion); Right resection of A-C joint (left was done 12 years ago, by far the most painful of all my surgeries)
I am not sure, I dont think so as it was not on the MRI. I see the NS in a few weeks
Does the numbness come and go or should I expect it to be there all the time? See the tingling in my left foot comes and goes
Since all this began I went from numb left thumb, index finger and middle finger. After months of work with my chiro none of those fingers are numb anymore. They went from constant numb, to off and on numb, now no numbness at all. Ive been able to cut my dose of anti inflamitory medication in 1/2 some days I dont take it at all, then other days I need the reccomended dose of 2 tabs a day when the pain starts again. Im hoping the pain will eventually resolve as did the numbness. Im so much better now than I was in the Summer months, so for now I refuse fusion in hopes that I can last a few years until I can have Artifical Disc Replacement instead of fusion. If that was an option for me today I would do it! This will be the topic of discussion at my next NS appointment for sure! Good luck to you !

Mild neural foraminal stenosis C5-6, Large disc herniation at the left C6-7 level, the herniation extends 6mm into the spinal canal.
i had a numb finger years ago from small cervical herniation. it was only 1 finger and 24x7 numb, I thought would be numb forever. It took about 3mo but it slowily got better. the whole finger was numb at 1st , then wks by wks the numbness would move out of lower finger till only numb is tip of finger, then nothing numb and stayed that way for few years. Of course a few years after that I completely herniated but that was just my luck.
