stem cell research
Has anyone done any research on stem cells used to rebuild bulging or herniated discs? I found this web-site Regenexx.com where they are apparently doing it.

I read some of the information. It seems intereting. It is also not covered by insurance, requires a $200 down payment, and you need to go to CO for the treatments. It also costs $7000.00-8500.00. I suppose it might be better than surgery requiring a knee replacement, etc but, again ,it is not covered by insurance.
I Have a lot of OA. I have had bilateral knee replacements, my A-C jopin removed from my left shoulder, and more arthritis in my other joints. I found it interesting because I am having my right shoulder A-C joint removed in january and this could be an option. I won't opt for it because of the dangers of it not working. My fear is that if it fails my insurance might not pay to fix the failure and then might not cover the A-C joint resection I am scheduled for in January because of the possibility of this prcedure not working.
Maybe other members will have more insight to this procedure
Cervical myelopathy, 15 surgeries to date, Severe OA, bilateral knee replacements, DDD, 13 MRI’s, 4 sets of spinal cortisone procedures and dozens of cortisone shots in other areas for OA. Upcoming scheduled surgeries include laminectomy and removal of synovial cyst located at left facet joint of L4-L5 (may require fusion); Right resection of A-C joint (left was done 12 years ago, by far the most painful of all my surgeries)
This doc is about 6 miles from my house, and I've never heard about this. I will have to look around for info on the doc.--Mazy
It sounds of course to good to be true. But I do like the stem cell part where it rebuilds the damaged disc and you keep your God given disc. I am going to do more research on this. I know $7500 and trips to Colorado are expensive. If I add up everything I've spent on preventative treatments I am sure it is close to $7500 or even more.

I noticed this doc has several good websites. He's done several good technical papers. I emailed him yesterday, and I'm hoping for a response. He also does prolotherapy and has a technical paper I found interesting on instability. I appreciate the research you have done in finding out about this.I will let you know if I find out anything else. ---Mazy
Mazy- Sounds great.
