what is going on? Woke up with.......

SEVERE PAIN......2 years post ACDF 5-7, and last night during the night, I woke with severe pain in my neck. I cannot turn my head either way, cannot tilt it back, and cannot look down! It is scaring me that something is seriously wrong. I am freaking out. What could be wrong? My doctor's office does not open for 10 more minutes. I do not want another MRI, but I think I may need one. If anyone has had this before or thinks they know what it could be, please let me know.
I also had two laminectomies prior to the fusion. Thank you for any help you may offer.

Go to see doc

The best thing you can do is contact your doctor's office. If you can't wait that long, go to the ER.

Kindest Regards,

thanks for your replies!

I called the Neurosurgeon, he said to go to my primary care dr and have him order an MRI stat and send the results to him. The NS requires a recent MRI to be seen. Now I have to wait for my primary care dr to call back to let me know when they can squeeze me in.

I am so upset. I am not ready to go through all this again!!

Try and relax

Try and relax if at all possible. Getting stressed and allowing the muscles in your neck and shoulders to get tighter will only add to your discomfort. I know it is easier said than done, but it will help.

Glad you were able to get through to the NS, I hope your PCP office calls back soon.

sorry your going thru this

Just wondering if instead of waiting to see your PC he/she can fax either you a prescription for the MRI, or at least put in the call now for the authorization from your plan prior to you seeing him.

Hoping you get the MRI quickly, and that you start feeling better soon.

mri

I asked that and they said I must be seen before they can order an MRI. I wonder if that is office policy or a general rule. Frustrating... Nothing is ever easy.

sorry

Sometimes I think my doctor does that just for the money. I hope that isn't the reason though
