I'm a 47 (almost) woman who was diagnosed with degenerative discs in july. I had my surgery ACDF on c5-c7 on August 20th and feeling very good. I had a fantastic surgeon (I call him the surfer dude as that is kind of what he looks like, and does in his spare moments). He was very knowledgeable and really took the time to explain everything. He was responsive to email as well (within 24 hrs with any questions I had).
I know this is not true for everyone, but for me I couldn't wait to have the surgery as the pain was well, a 9 on the pain scale. I travel a lot for a living and this actually put a damper on my job (travel wise) for at least 2 months. However I was back working within 2 weeks after the surgery.
Thank you for the information on this site. I will say that one thing I notice, which seems obvious to me, is that the healing process and recovery process for any individual can be quite different depending on many factors. Anyways, thanks for the opportunity to share, wish everyone the best.
I am so glad that you have had such great success. I hope that it lasts long term. Please pop in and keep us posted when you are able.

be impeccable with your word..
Everyone should get a standing ovation after this. I just wanted people to know that you can get through this, and it isn't that dreary. But maybe it's all the sunshine in SoCal cuz I don't feel like sitting in a recliner. I want to be outside enjoying myself.
best to you!!
Thanks Laura for the succesful outcome on your procedure.
I have been reading alot of things on here and others sites and medical articles and am very afraid.
But u had a great outcome which is few and far between so nice to hear. It may also be that I am looking in the wrong places like chronic pain because people are in pain would be the ones who would post there but need to know the bad effects of back surgerys/procedures too I guess.
So I figure you have to look at the pros and cons and make the best decision for you and hope we can have a "Laura" outcome.
Thanks for the uplift and keep us posted on your recovery.
Thanks
Rhonda
