mazy- thxs for info..I have osteoporosis and I had no symptoms as far as I could tell. But I was high risk for it and my gyn dr thought he would check me for the heck of it. A test called a DEXA scan is painless and pretty quick, kinda like an X-ray.
My T-scores showed osteoporosis and it is worse in my lumbar verterbra. I was surprised to see that I had it. ..jade
I've gotta look up my T-score. I know it shows osteopenia, and I take Boniva monthly. I have heard (from several sources)that most docs are too quick to start patients on meds for osteopenia and osteoporosis. I'm wondering if they can have long-term negative side effects. More to worry about!! Yikes! I guess I've got a lot to learn!--Mazy
Thanks Mazy for the useful resource. Many drug addicts are facing osteoporosis as these drugs have damaged their bones and muscles co-ordination. I would strongly suggest dual diagnosis rehab for these people. Many doctors and physiotherapists are already called in by different rehabilitation centers.
Thanks for sharing such a wonderful link. In my opinion people should consult with their family doctors or any locums like Australian Medical Locums, because prevention is better than cure.
